Yay! Another wedding survey!

1. What month and year were you married?
June 2007!

2. How did he ask you?
I knew it was going to be that night. Jason's roommate came into the Brick Oven and told me he went with Jason to get the ring and it had to happen that night because I was to meet his parents the next morning and I didn't want to meet them as just the "girlfriend." He officially proposed right after I got off work from the Brick Oven (so I smelled like ranch dressing, and garlic bread) in a secret location. He got down on one knee (which was pretty impressive for where we were) told me he loved me and stuck the ring on my finger. So cheesy romantical, but perfect!

3. Where did you honeymoon?
We went to the Zermatt for our wedding night and the next day we flew on the most annoying flight ever to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to go on our cruise... Our airline lost our luggage. Jason's suitcase showed up later that night on our cruise, but mine didn't show up until the next night!!! It was horrible!!!! The rest of the cruise was amazing though, and I did end up getting a new outfit on the cruise because I didn't have any clothes.

4. Can you still fit your dress?
Yeah, I just tried tonight! It is a bit snug, but I've been meaning to lose a little bit of weight anyways!

5. What was the worst gift you got?
Some really ugly weird wooden dolls with yarn for hair.

6. What flavor was your wedding cake?
Chocolate for the Utah cake and white cake for the Montana reception.

7. Were you a bridezilla?
Not until we got the luncheon and everyone kept asking what took us so long and in all reality we were taking pictures and then had gotten stuck in stupid traffic! After that I was fine again. Of course there were a few shockers that gave me a bit of an edge, but I didn't freak out on anyone.

8. What's one thing you would change about your wedding?
Not as many pictures of Preston... Another reason why I want to take more wedding pictures.

9. Do you still look at your wedding pictures?
I have them all over my apartment and my computer, it would be hard NOT to look at them.

10. What colors did you use?
Red, orange, and yellow.

11. Where did you tie the knot?
The Salt Lake Temple!

12. What's one funny thing that happened that day?
After looking at our wedding reception pictures we realized my little sisters' good friend Preston, was in more pictures at our reception than we were! (Probably due to the fact we were stuck in the line from 7:00-9:30) We did thankfully get some first dance pictures.

13. How many showers did you have?
A brick oven shower, a family shower, and a friend shower. All were great! I did not get one dirty thing from any of the parties! Haha, thank heavens!

15. Did you give any wedding favors away?
No, we had great refreshments though! Chocolate fountain all the way!

16. Who caught the flowers and garter?
Didn't throw them, we didn't have time. Haha.

17. Who was your officiant or minister?
We had a temple sealer.

18. How much was your wedding dress, undergarments and all?
I can't really remember... I payed for the dress myself I think it was about 800 and I didn't need a slip, I didn't do a veil either, there wasn't one that I fell in love with so I decided I didn't care that much anyways.

19. Was there dancing?
Ya of course, not a ton, but there was dancing. We even had a wedding singer, well, actually two. Jason's aunt and her husband sing at weddings all the time and they were AMAZING!!!! They even learned our two songs to play and sing for us!

20. Where was the reception?
Up at Mt. Timpanogos Park, it was beautiful!!!!! My cousin did all of the decorating and the weather was perfect!

21. Would you go back and do it over again?
Anyday! I would love to marry Jason again, best day of my life. The smartest thing I've ever done!

22. How long did you have to plan your wedding?
About 3 months... We actually kept contemplating eloping to the Vegas temple, but decided it would be much much better for us to have the entire family and all of our friends involved.

23. What kind of car were you in when you drove away?
Our beautiful Acura TL.

24. How many in your wedding party?
We didn't really do anything super traditional. I did have Janna, Kate, Penny, Caidy, and Metta dressed in Orange. The mother's and father's, my grandparents and my brother.

25. Did you do anything different in your wedding or reception?
A lot! We didn't have the traditional garter fling or the bouquet toss. No father daughter or mother son dance.

26. Did you save the top layer of your cake for your 1 year anniversary?
We certainly did! We kept the top of our Montana cake and brought it back with us and it was delicious!! (Check our 1 year anniversary post for pictures)

27. If you saved your cake, did you eat it?
Of course!

28. What was the grand total spent your wedding?
I have no idea. I don't think anyone does, there was money coming from all over the place to pay for that thing it was incredible! Thank you everyone!

Realization...

For the past couple of months I have been wanting to take more pictures in my wedding dress. We didn't have a ton taken and though the ones we have are good, I want more. I also didn't want to take bridals before we were married. Call me old fashioned but I was not letting Jason see me in my wedding dress before the wedding, and we didn't have time to do a lot immediately after (on the day and even weeks later). We got married had a luncheon, got ready for the reception, had the reception, the next day we left for our honeymoon, a week later we got back and then went up to montana for that reception and then my mom took the dress back to Utah while we stayed in Montana for a few months.
Call me greedy, but I just don't think I got enough pictures while in that dress. It is a phenomenal dress! I loved every single thing about it and I still do. It is simple and elegant, and perfect for me.
Tonight while at my moms I decided I would try it on again. It took a tiny bit of finesse to get it zipped up all the way and thanks to my little sister penny zipping it for me it worked. I realized I have probably gained at least 10 lbs since I've been married! GAH! It's a good think Jason and I have started to eat Lean Cuisine's! It's proportioned a lot better for me so I don't end up eating my weight in dinner. Haha.
(Or maybe I could just blame it on my birth control like everyone else does! Haha.)
My goal; lose 15 lbs so I can wear my dress again and get more pictures taken.
Also, get my dress cleaned because it's filthy!

Traveling!

We're back, but not without another traveling mishap! Last December we went up to Montana to spend Christmas with Jason's parents. Our flight was cancelled so we had to drive up there which wasn't too bad, but on our way back our windshield wipers weren't working. We were in Idaho, and of course they are horrible about cleaning off their roads, it was like an ice trap. A car passed us and spit the dirty wet snow from the road onto our windshield, and as we frantically tried to get the wipers to work we slid off the road into the area in between our side of the road and the other side (with the oncoming traffic). Thankfully nothing happened to the car, but we weren't able to push the car out of the ditch. We dug the snow out from under the tires, we pushed the thing with all of our strength. It moved a tiny tiny bit, but not enough to get the car to move back onto the freeway. Someone finally called a tow-truck for us and they pulled us out of the ditch effortlessly. The only problem was that they towed us all the way to the next town and charged us a bundle of money! It was ridiculous!
Anyways... Our new story... We were on our way home from a fantastic Vacation in Montana. We were about 3 1/2 hours into our 10 hour drive, on a two lane highway going about 70 mph, and not really a car (or big semi-truck) in sight. We were listening to music and all of a sudden we heard a pppfffsssssssss sound, we quickly pulled to the side of the road and both knew, without having to look, what had just happened. Our tire was dead!

**We got our oil changed the day before we left. Good old Wal*Mart, not only did they change the oil, they also checked our tires. They told us that the tread on our back two tires was too low. If we were going to have our car inspected it would not have passed, but that didn't stop us and we went on our merry way. We checked the air pressure, and filled the tires with a little air, and then we were gone. 

Luckily Jason and I know how to change a tire and we had a never been used spare in the trunk. Not so lucky, we also had all of our luggage in the trunk. I transferred everything from the trunk to the backseat of the car so we could get the spare out, while Jason called his parents to see if there was a tire store in one of the nearby towns (25 miles away). 

We switched out our flat tire with the donut and shoved our completely bald tire into the trunk. We got to the town and it had a Les Schwab tire store there. Fantastic! Our car is kind of annoying in certain ways, it requires the premium unleaded gasoline, and really expensive tires! We got our old tires at a Les Schwab, and we were hoping they would have our tires at the one in Dillon, Montana (which is where we were). 

We pulled up to the tire store, a man came out and seeing the donut on our car guessed we had a flat, which of course was correct! We went into the store and he looked up the kind of tires we would need. We decided to get two new tires because the back right tire was flat, and the back right tire was just about to die itself. 

A couple of minutes later he came back and told us they didn't have the same tires as the ones on our car, my heart dropped a little. They did however, have the right kind for our car, but they were a little bit more expensive. 

It reminded me of Arrested Development where the doctor says, "he's going to be alright." The family was relieved and the doctor said he would be taking it worse than the family was and they asked him why. "Because he's going to be all right. He lost his left hand." 

We got the tires on in record time (only half an hour!) and were on our way once more. We got home at 10:30, just in time to watch the Simpsons. And by The Simpsons, I of course mean an "infomercial".

A little bit belated...

Jason's birthday was on Monday and we have just been so busy I didn't have time to post anything until now! So HAPPY BIRTHDAY JASON!!!!! Jason woke up early and went golfing with his dad, while his mom and I went out to lunch (Sweetgrass, oh how I've missed that place!). I went to an eye appointment so I could get some glasses so I don't have to wear my contacts at all times! We then went shopping to get Jason something he didn't know about for his birthday. We ended up getting him some jeans, which look fantastic on him. We also got him an ice cream birthday cake from Coldstone which was really good! We went out to eat at a sushi bar called Nara! They serve mostly korean food and it is delicious! After dinner we went to Jason's cousins house. Jason's cousin and his girlfriend just had a baby, so we got to visit them. The baby is soo cute, but I wasn't able to take any pictures (I left the camera in the car).
Yesterday we went pawn shopping, one of Jason's favorite things to do. The pawn shops here in Montana have so many movies it is ridiculous! They try to alphabetize them but it usually doesn't work, so we end up having to go through all of the movies just to find the two we are looking for! It is pretty fun, but it gets a little bit too tiring for me. After the pawn shops we went to the mall and I got a few new shirts. Montana also has no sales tax, so when something says $4.99 it literally means $4.99, not $5.24. Hence the new glasses, new shirts, and lots of new movies. We then went to eat at Samurai Gardens (like Benihana). The food was exceptional and watching the guy make it was phenomenal! After dinner we went to Quita's. We were only supposed to be there for a few minutes because Jason wanted to go spend some time with his cousin, but we ended up staying there for at least an hour -if not two. Quita has two boys, Navarro is 11, and Zynan is 2! They are so funny! Here are some pictures.

10. Who cooks more? Jason likes to cook and I like to bake! (I can't do without my sweets)
11. What meals do you cook together? Our kitchen is too small for both of us to be in it at the same time.
12. Who is more stubborn? Probably Jason, but I can be fairly stubborn.
13. Who is the first to admit they're wrong? I am, just because I hate to be angry for too long.
14. Who has more siblings? I do. I have 4 siblings, and Jason has a half sister.
15. Who wears the pants in the relationship? We share.
16. What do you like to do together? Everything. Guitar hero, watch tv, go on walks, go out to eat, etc...
17. Who eats more sweets? I totally eat more sweets! Jason is a meatitarian (hehe).
18. Guilty pleasures? Eating candy... (Mostly cake). Jason's is buying things on ebay or buying movies. We have quite the collection.
19. How did you meet? My family has Sunday dinners every week and my family invited my cousin Dave, who invited Jason.
20. Who proposed? Jason
21. His best features? Everything!
22. What is his greatest quality? He's just so darn cute, very intellectual, and soooo giving to me.

Crow Fair.

Our first real day in Montana Rita, Jason, his cousin Gini, and I went to the Crow fair. It is on the Crow indian reservation. They have a parade in the morning and a sort of flea market to buy things at, and later in the day they have a rodeo and then a pow-wow. Unfortunately we didn't get to go to the pow-wow or the rodeo but we did get to go to the parade in the morning.
Rita's sister was in town and had a few friends who were crow, so we got to go to their campground and watch/help them get ready for the parade. There were real teepees everywhere! It was incredible. Most of the people stayed there an entire week. They had people from all over the country and even world there to experience it.
Almost everyone in the parade rode horses. Those who didn't ride horses rode one the back of decorated trucks and cars. One of the people we got to help get ready was riding one of the horses. The horse was stunning. It was a beautiful horse, but it's eyes were just bewildering!




We went to the flea market after the parade and looked at all of the things they were selling. I found this shirt, Jason and I loved it! It was the funniest thing!

Summer Vacation.

For our summer vacation Jason and I are up in Montana. We decided it would be the best vacation for us to go on before school starts up again.
We went to Yellowstone first. It was so much fun!
I usually think of Old Faithful when I think of Yellowstone, but after this trip I have changed my mind a little bit. Don't get me wrong, Old Faithful is pretty spectacular, but there are so many other things there that are just as amazing, just as awe inspiring!

This is a really neat picture! Jason really liked how the water (I'm guessing the sulfur in the water) changed the color of the ground.

We spent the night in a town right outside of the park and went back in the next morning. The town had the coolest arch in between the town and Yellowstone park. It was awesome looking. It reminded me of Europe and I had to take a picture.
I really wanted to see some waterfalls and some wildlife, and I got what I was looking for.

We were stuck behind the slowest car in the park and for this next picture I was sort of glad.

Jason had noticed this buffalo on the side of the road and said it might try to cross, and it certainly did! It was a lot closer than it looks in this picture and it was really neat to be that close. We also saw a buffalo swim across a stream (or river) right next to a man fishing, but I wasn't fast enough to grab my camera and take a picture.
Here is one of the amazing waterfalls we were able to see. If you look closely you might be able to see the rainbow towards the bottom of the waterfall!

Morning of surprises.

This morning at around 11 we got a knock on our door. Jason got really excited telling me to hurry and open it because it was the FedEx man bringing his birthday present. I jumped up and the doorbell rang again and there was continuous knocking. I opened the door and instead of the FedEx man there was a police officer!
"Is Jessica Fuentes here?"
I quickly told him that she did not live here. He then asked which one of us had lived here longer. I told him we were married and that we have lived here since the end of last August. The officer looked a little bit shocked. He asked if we had ever met Jessica Fuentes, which we haven't. We told him that we had been receiving their mail and phone calls for the past year and have always written "Moved, Please FWD to new address." He asked if we had a forwarding address for Jessica, and of course we didn't! We told him to check with the office and maybe they did. The officer then said, "Well, if you hear from her... Nevermind." Then he left.
Honestly, we have been getting Jessica & Alberto Fuentes' mail and people have been calling for them for a year now.

That was the first time I have ever had a police officer come knocking on my door. I am certainly glad that he wasn't there for me and I hope I never do anything that would warrant a police officer to come to my home in the first place.

School

School is almost over for Jason and I! Well, at least for the summer. My classes have been somewhat easy for me this block of the summer. I am taking a British Literature class right now which is really great! The classes sometimes put me to sleep, but only because it's late in the day and I am in need of a nap by that point.
I am also taking a public speaking class which is pretty fun. I get really stressed out right before the speech and then kind of forget about my stress during the speech, and then right after the speech I get a little stressed out again. Haha. I think I am doing pretty well in both of the classes. I am finished with these classes on Friday but Jason's classes go until next Wednesday!

On a happier note, Jason wants to go on a vacation. He told me to find somewhere to go and we could go there in between semesters. I really wanted to go to Disneyland, and Jason suggested Montana. After thinking about it, we decided we should go up to Montana to visit Jason's parents. My family is from Orem and I see them every other day, and I figured since we had a break it would be nice to go visit the family we don't get to see every other day.

We are going to go to Yellowstone park for the first two days and then just relax at Denny and Rita's! I am soooo excited!!!!! I love Montana, and neither Jason or I have been to Yellowstone in a really long time!
